A technology enthusiast by nature, in 2010 I came to the unavoidable realization that my smartphone, laptop, social media, and various apps were interrupting and distracting me such that I was unable to escape them to enjoy an unoccupied moment. With faux connectivity, pretend productivity, and 11p email replies becoming the expectation, I made the decision to put an end to the madness by simplifying my life overall while relegating technology to specific parts of my day. This blog is meant to help me map and examine the change while sharing the experience.
My name is David Wyatt. I am a husband to beautiful wife Rachel and father to an incredible 5 year old. I am a musician, a coffee enthusiast, a camper, and have lived in Austin since 1980—except 3 years in high school. Rachel and I own a PR/design/branding company together called Wyatt Brand.
